Divine Girls Coalition, formerly known as the Bellamy Girls Summit, was started with a vision to help teen girls, ages 11-19, work through issues common to them such as poor self-esteem, depression, abuse, peer pressure, and thoughts of suicide; issues that are present in many adult and elderly females. Successful women who have encountered similar issues during their teen years would work with their younger counterparts to foster a sense of empowerment and a love for self. Being that each of us, the organizers, are educators who teach or counsel with girls daily, we were aware of the great need for this program. Many of the teen girls we encounter are hurt, angry and have feelings of being unlovable.
During this short period of time, we have touched over 100 girls! We culminate the year's meetings with a 4 day/3-night summer camp. We see the real-life, every-day experiences of these young ladies. Our desire is to provide a community of leaders and a support system for each girl. While building healthy relationships with friends and family at every opportunity, we teach girls the leadership skills that will serve them over a lifetime. Testimonials from parents, community members, and the young ladies are a reminder that this work is worth it....the mission is POSSIBLE!
Food justice is an important part of community justice. We take donations from local businesses and use them to fight hunger by giving to local food banks. Help us connect with donors and with people in need.
Every third Saturday of the month, we mobilize our girls for sessions that address concerns of their choice. Join us and see what can be accomplished when you get an impassioned team to focus on change.
Our community is full of people who want to help. We work to help our young ladies by providing services with people who can meet their needs. Come connect with us.
